Mildmay Oaks, Hartley Wintney

There's a field of oak trees called the Mildmay Oaks in a small village not so far away. Planted around 1800 partly in response to the commander of the navy at the time, who was worried the country would not have many Oaks left for building ships.

Apparently, this collection of regimented Oaks is unique. It's certainly gives a very unique atmosphere to the place. Today the snow had clung to every branch and outlined them much like a sketch in charcoal.

I wonder if this mother, head down and hurrying to get her child home and out of the cold, noticed the scene around her?
